Are people really still buying toys in this economy?

YES!

In fact, regardless of the recession sales are up 20% according to this New York Times article:

and not only that...but it's just as common as buying some favorite kitchen appliances!!!

AND, not just for women...but for men as well!!!

Two Indiana University studies conducted among nationally representative samples of adult American men and women show that vibrator use during sexual interactions is common, with use being reported by approximately 53 percent of women and 45 percent of men ages 18 to 60. Not only is vibrator use common, but the two studies also show that vibrator use is associated with more positive sexual function and being more proactive in caring for one's sexual health.

Clearly, I'm super excited about this...so excited, I'm basically jumping out of myself!

While it does mean more potential business for me, I feel like it just means we're closer to a better and happier world in general. It's already known that sex and orgasms release all those awesome hormones that make us feel happier. Why deny yourself that?

And why deny yourself the best of the best? We spend so much money on those kitchen appliances -
KitchenAid Mixer (ooohhh I want one so bad) is around $300, Juicer for around $120, even a "Compact" microwave off of Best Buy ranges from $50-$250. Of course you want the best of the best for your kitchen, so you'll spend the big bucks to make it all do your bidding when you want it to. Don't get me wrong, I love my kitchen and my kitchen appliances. But those generally don't go near any special spot of mine (or as Najmat likes to say, "my princess").

If you want to please yourself, you deserve the best. You deserve something that would work specifically for you, and last as long as those kitchen appliances.

My current microwave used to live in my parents house in L.A. for several years...and I brought it with me to Boston 5 years ago. It's not as strong as it used to be...but it does what it needs to do! On the other hand, my first toy for around $80 has been with me for 6 years - but I left the batteries in it and they corroded! As a society, we've placed so much worth on "virginity" and "cleanliness." But not nearly enough on self care and what that really means to each individual.
